Venktesh

For what it's worth, it's never too late to be whoever you want to be.My Inspiration

I am Venktesh Pandey, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Prior to joining N.C. A&T, I completed my Ph.D. in Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering (CAEE) at The University of Texas at Austin and worked as a Project Associate at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

The core area of my research integrates intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and emerging future mobility services in traffic operations and transportation planning models for the long-term future. In particular, my research addresses following specific challenges:

  1. how to adapt assumptions on driver behavior accounting for new sources of connection and information availability,
  2. how to develop computationally efficient models for large-scale transportation planning with multiple travel modes and emerging mobility services,
  3. how the competition among ITS service providers impact the control and planning of transportation systems, and
  4. how to incorporate mega data streams into long-term planning models and simulation.
Some of the commonly used key words in my research include network modeling, traffic assignment models, congestion pricing, reinforcement learning, adaptive routing, Markov decision process, and ridesharing mobility. Feel free to drop me an email if you want to talk about any of these!
